Eclipse Shipping
Eclipse is a dry bulk ship brokerage company based in San Francisco, CA. We have experience working multiples types of vessels, from handysize to capesize. Our primary chartering client is Schnitzer Steel. We work the Pacific and Atlantic basins, with a focus on the coasts of the United States, as well as Mexico. We work directly with prominent ship owners in Australia, Singapore, Northern Europe, and in the United States.
About Us
In 1980, George joined A.P. Moller as a Chartering Manager in Maerskbroker. This included working with West Coast clients, Mexican shipping companies and the Bulk Division of the company in Copenhagen.
George moved on to Frontier International Shipping in 1984 (then 50 percent owned by Bocimar) becoming Vice President and a partner. Over the years there he handled a variety of accounts, including steel mills, fertilizer conglomerates, and coal trading groups. In doing so he forged close relationships with a variety of ship owners worldwide.
Eclipse Shipping Inc., started in December 2012, was the logical outgrowth of all the experience and connections garnered over the previous years in the business. Today's principal chartering client is Schnitzer Steel (SSI), with direct owning clients ranging from Japan to Norway. While occasionally fixing capes, the company works primarily in the Handy, Supra, and Panamax sizes.
2025 Note
As of 12-31-2024 George has retired - After 46 years as a broker & 12 years running Eclipse Shipping Inc.It was a great run but it was time.
